Botanical Garden
The unique plant collection in the Core Facility Botanical Garden is spread over an area of eight hectares. It consists of various display groups such as the taxonomic group, the alpine group, and the flora of Austria and includes critically en dangered species as well as exotic and native plants. Many of them are being studied by researchers and used for the education of students and pupils.

KLF Research Center for Behavior and Cognition
The Konrad Lorenz Research Center for Behavior and Cognition (KLF) is a Core Facility of the Faculty of Life Sciences that studies animal behavior using various approaches. Marked animals are observed in the wild to understand advantageous behavior. Species studied include songbirds, greylag geese, corvids, and northern bald ibis.
Haidlhof Research Station
The Haidlhof Research Station was established in 2010 as a result of cooperation between the University of Vienna and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. Here, international scientists work on research on animal intelligence. The research focuses on behavioral and cognitive research in birds (ravens, crows and keas) as well as animal communication and bio-acoustics.

Affenberg Landskron
Affenberg Landskron, a park located in Carinthia, houses a big group of semi-free ranging Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata). Supported by the University of Vienna and national and international cooperation partners, the Affenberg invites, coordinates, and supervises research projects with the goal to promote animal welfare and a better understanding of primate behavior.

WasserCluster Lunz
WasserCluster Lunz is a non-profit research center equally supported by the University of Vienna, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU Vienna), and the University for Continuing Education Krems. WasserCluster Lunz conducts basic and applied research on aquatic ecosystems from the microscopic to the catchment level.
